💡 The 80-20 Rule 💡

It is one of my favorite rules I am trying to live by, especially when it comes to my nutrition.

Tell me if this story sounds familiar..

You decide you're going to lose weight.

So you tell yourself you’re going to “clean up” your diet, get rid of all the “bad” food, and only eat “clean” food.

So you try.

And you last MAYBE a week or two before you start fantasizing about all the “bad” food you’re no longer allowed, and before you know it you’ve eaten an entire pizza, crushed half a bottle of wine, and swallowed a pint of Ben and Jerry’s.

This is what happens when you demonize food, when you think about food in terms of “good” and “bad”, when you tell yourself you “aren’t allowed” certain foods.

It’s a recipe for disaster.

Food is food. Some of it is more nutritious, some of it is less nutritious.

Aim to get 80% of your calories from more nutritious food, and 20% from less nutritious food.

Notice how much more relaxed you feel.

How you’re feeling fewer cravings.

And watch how much easier it is to maintain that calorie deficit.

💡 What has been your experience with losing weight?
